Zahir smokes for the first time after his sister dies, at a senior's graduation party when he's fifteen. He sits at the foot of the garden stairs and lets the older boy drag a hand through his hair possessively while he waits for the bowl to circle around to him.
(The fingers in his hair tangle and knot, pulling till he teeters on the edge of pain, but Zahir doesn't think he'll ever cut his hair short again.)
His first hit is clumsy, but he's a quick learner. By the time, woozy and grinning, he lets himself be pulled to his feet and lead back into the house, Zahir can't think of anything but the blessed silence in his head, as if he's fumigated all the ghosts.
This is what he learns: alcohol deadens the voices until it doesn't anymore, and more than once he's woken up the next morning with a hangover spinning lazy glass shards in his brain and a night no one will talk to him about. Weed is good and coke is better, but everything is worth a shot. He trips into the k-hole once and goes completely clean, not even taking an advil, for six months.

He's trying to do his sister's work, but that doesn't mean he is her. He's scared of dying. He's scared of Ishamael and Moridin and what they'll do, and he's scared of himself and what he'll do. He's scared for the world. He's just learned that his fear is extraneous in the scheme of things.
♦ - What is one thing about them that they are most proud of?
That there's enough of something, of whatever he is, to keep him from being wholly Ishamael and Moridin, that there's something inside him that can still do the right thing, can still play the part until the final curtain falls.

He used to be awkward about his height/size. He's mostly grown out of that but still gets flustered if it ends up inconveniencing someone.

Daytime is life and people and heat and its easier to hold on in the day. Night doesn't hold anything good for him unless he's otherwise occupied, which is why he tries to always keep himself occupied.

Nightmares. As a Dreamer he even has the unhappy bonus of all his nightmares usually coming true.

Now, he probably uses saidin to keep it off him, if he doesn't have an umbrella. Rain tends to make his mood tank, though.

APPEARANCE MEME
[hair]: Haha oh man. He's got a lot of it and everywhere. It's long and a little past his shoulders, and a dark brown that looks black in most lighting. Looks very soft and shiny but is actually fairly coarse. It doesn't need a lot of styling but Zahir doesn't bother very often with the little bit it does need, just knots it in a low manbun instead. When he wears it down it just gets a brush through.
He's got a beard. Sometimes it's a full beard, sometimes he shaves it down, but it grows fast so he can alternate the two styles within one week. And then there's your bog-standard chest/legs/arms fur carpet.
[eyes]: Brown eyes, eyelashes 2 die for, and killer eyebrows but the entire effect is slightly undermined by the fact that he almost always looks exhausted. Busy plotting the death of the world and all that.
[mouth]: Fake smiles with his lips closed. Real smiles and laughter show his teeth, and he's got one of those unashamed loud laughs. Slightly contagious. About his lips--IDK, he's got them? For this I feel like you can just look at the picture lmao.

He's accumulated the average number of scars someone might have over 24 years of life.
